🎨 West Virginia Art Education Association Annual Self-Portrait Competition🎨

Who Can Enter:

• Division I: Grades 11–12

• Division II: Grades 9–10

• Division III: Grades 6–8

Theme: Self-Portrait

Artwork Requirements:

• Size: 8.5" x 11" (flat, 2-D, vertical or horizontal)

• Include a ½" plain white border, free of marks

• No mats or frames accepted

• Limit: Designed to be completed in 2–4 class periods

• Medium: collage and cut paper

• One entry per student (no school limit, but gallery space is limited)

Judging & Awards:

Judges: WVAEA Student Chapter & David Modler, Professor of Art

Awards:​

$25 Gift Card – Best of Show in each division

Certificates – 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place & Honorable Mentions

Certificates of Participation for all entries

Deadline:
Entries must arrive by Friday, October 10, 2025, to be considered for judging.
Award winners will be revealed, and works displayed at the WVAEA Conference at Shepherd University (Oct. 17–18, 2025).

Teacher Guidelines:

• Mail entries from the same school together.

• Complete the Google Form Entry for each submission.

• Include a printed list of students, titles, and division with mailed works.

• Each entry must have the following clearly labeled on the back (typed if possible):

  • Student Name

  • Division (I, II, III)

  • Title of Work

  • School & School Address

  • Art Teacher’s Name

  • Email addresses for both student and teacher

Important Notes:

• Teachers will be notified by email.

• The white border is required for hanging purposes.

• While care will be taken, WVAEA cannot guarantee against damage or loss.
